Turner has had private studies with Lundy Siegriest, Martha Borge, Patricia Edwards and Peter Blos. After receiving his BS/MS, (Engineering) in 1958 from UC, Berkeley, he spent the summer in Europe to study major art galleries. He is an art teacher, curator and professional artist. He is also a licensed structural consulting engineer. Some of Turner's group exhibits include 1997 – 2002's Scene on the Strait, 1999-2001's The Outsiders Group Exhibitions , at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara, the Mendocino Art Center Gallery, William Lester Gallery in Pt. Reyes Station, the Artist's Contemporary Gallery in Sacramento, the Plein Air Gallery in Carmel, and the Craftsman's Guild and California Heritage Gallery in San Francisco, California.

He was 2001's Featured Artist for Marin/Scapes Annual Poster, Umbrellas at Brighton Beach, Bolinas. Turner has had one-man shows at the Bolinas Art Gallery, the Claudia Chapline Gallery in Stinson Beach, the Pacific Grove Art Center in Pacific Grove, Museum West in San Francisco, in 2001, Early Paintings from the ‘80's at Epperson Gallery in Crockett, California, and William Sawyer Gallery in San Francisco, CA.
