Laura Culver grew up in Orinda, California, and earned a Graphic Design degree from UC Davis. After graduation, she pursued a career path including graphic design, stock photography and art buying for an advertising agency. She moved around, mostly in the Western States, and returned home in 1999 to settle in San Rafael, California.

In 2002 she became a full-time artist with her award-winning Hand-Colored Photography as a medium. She continues limited exhibits in this medium.

In 2006 she chanced upon an oil painting class, and was immediately drawn to the challenging, creative process of plein air (outdoor) painting. She states: “My goal is to see with my heart and eyes, and paint the landscape using the language of light and color. The balance between warm and cool is of utmost importance to me.”

Laura regularly exhibits in juried competitions, solo shows, and invitationals including West Marin Wild, Bolinas Museum and MarinScapes. Laura is an Associate Member of the California Art Club and a 2016 Guest Member of the Baywood Artists.
