Margaret Hallett retires as FSA Marin's Director

posted: Friday, September 02, 2016

After more than 30 years of dedicated service to Marin's vulnerable children, adults and families, Margaret Hallett is moving on from her position as director of Family Service Agency (FSA). Under Margaret’s leadership, FSA became a division of Buckelew Programs in 2012.

Prior to her tenure at FSA, Margaret was the Executive Director of Pregnancy to Parenthood Family Center, an agency that provided support and counseling to women and families from pregnancy through the first three years of parenthood. She facilitated the merger of that organization with Family Service Agency of Marin in 1990 and assumed the position of FSA Executive Director in 1999. Margaret strategically grew FSA over the years, including oversight of the merger with the county’s only 24/7 Suicide Prevention and Crisis Hotline. She was honored as Marin’s 2003 Executive Director of the Year.

Margaret Hallett has made a tremendous and long-lived impact on Marin County’s least visible population. She has served with unflagging commitment and enabled her staff to reach deeply in to the community to provide help and healing where it was needed most.

Dr. James Mensing, J.D., Ph.D., Senior Director at Buckelew Programs, will be overseeing the work of FSA going forward. James has over 25 years experience working with children and families in need of behavioral health and other assistance at the direct service, policy, and organizational management levels. Sarah Chapman, MFT, Counseling Services Program Director, will continue to lead FSA’s counseling programs. Sarah has been a Clinical Supervisor at FSA for 14 years, including oversight of FSA’s Services for Youth and Adults, the DBT skills program, and the Clinical Training program. Sarah has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 35 years during which she has worked extensively both in agency and private practice settings in Marin county with children, teens, adults, couples, and groups. Sarah is very excited to assume the Program Director position for the entire Counseling Services Program and continuing her work with FSA and Buckelew Programs.
