Celebrating Thanksgiving at MAIL

posted: Wednesday, November 16, 2016

On November 16th, our Marin Assisted Independent Living Program (MAIL) gathered for their annual Thanksgiving Celebration at a Buckelew home in Terra Linda. Clients and their families were treated to a scrumptious meal prepared by our friends at Red Robin Catering. MAIL staff served up turkey with all the fixings, and an extra helping of smiles and love.

Seasonal decorations created by clients and staff in our arts and crafts group added to the festive atmosphere. Before dinner, Program Director Claire Zurack greeted everyone and invited the group to share what they are thankful for. “I am thankful for all the love and support I have received here,” a woman said. “Yes, and the outings are great!” added a young man. The mother of another MAIL resident expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the staff: “You’ve done so much for my son. It’s a blessing to know he lives in a caring home.” Those who preferred to share their feelings in writing could add a personalized ornament to the “Gratitude Tree”, yet another creative project by our talented art group participants. Buckelew’s CEO Tamara Player was happy to join the celebration: “What a wonderful occasion to meet clients and families. We truly have a great community here!”
