A message from our CEO Tamara Player

Happy New Year!  I’m so grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received from our community—it’s an honor and privilege to join the Buckelew team!

The seasons are changing and so is Buckelew Programs.  We are entering a “Season of Transition.”  As we’ve all experienced at some point in our lives, transitions can be challenging, and yet, they are necessary for us to reach our full potential or as I like to say, ‘to become our better selves.’ Just know that our board, staff and I are working together to prepare for our next season--growth and sustainability!

For now, we are looking inward at who we are, what we do and how we do it. It’s the first of many steps toward building a solid three-year strategic plan, which includes rebranding and completion of the integration of Helen Vine Recovery Center and FSA Marin with all its programs.

So, as it was envisioned in 2012 when the merger occurred, in 2017 you may see an entirely new name, new logo, and updated website for Buckelew Programs, which will include the programs formerly under the umbrella of FSA Marin, as well as Helen Vine Recovery Center.

Change is never easy, and it is important for us to honor the work of those who came before us and helped build our organization while we continue our journey and create a new identity. We’ll need your help to assure your neighbors and family members that though we are in transition and our name may be changing, our services are still here and just a phone call or appointment away.  We have a long history of serving our community and will continue to do so.  Please join me in helping to get the word out!

We always welcome your insights and contributions, and especially during this time of transition. Please email me at tamarap@buckelew.org  if you would like to share your thoughts.

Finally, thank you for helping us plant the seeds of recovery and hope this past year.  We have so much to be thankful for--especially you, our community supporters, our dedicated staff and volunteers, our clients and their families who work so hard every day to overcome the challenges of life. We are honored to be a part of their journey from darkness to light.

 With deep gratitude,

 Tamara Player
